Majorca - The Balearic Islands
The Balearic Islands can be described as nothing less than fabulous. Located on one corner of the Mediterranean Sea, the 4 main islands are considered to be the favorite holiday spots by people of all ages. The coastline is such that exists nowhere else in Europe and the landscaping is more than just beautiful. Even though they are a part of the Republic of Spain, there are a lot different in the ways of living. This can be said in terms of the language spoken, the kind of lifestyle enjoyed and the culture. All in all, the place is down to earth with art forms such as music and theater playing a huge part in the life of the locals.
When visiting the Balearic Islands, the first location to hit upon by the tourists is Palma - a busy town at Majorca. The place is full of color which only increases in intensity during the saint's day with the skies getting lit with a lot of fireworks. San Juan, a definite place to encounter is full of exotic birds and tropical fruits of various colors. Apart from these which tend to be a feast for the eyes, there are the spas which are a must visit. Tourists have the option of meditating in the morning, taking a relaxing massage in the afternoon and enjoy the star lit night with a glass of champagne in hand. To name a few, the Puro Beach and the Arabella Spa are the ones to look for.
The world of Balearic Islands does not end in Palma alone and extends well beyond that. There are the mountains in the north and the beaches in the south. While the northern area offers rocky terrains for those who like to hike and take up challenges, the south is for those who prefer to relax and have a lazy time. Heartland on the other hand is comprised of the towns square, markets and churches.

Sollar, the little town on the northern side deserves special mention in the list of things to do when in Majorca, Balearic Islands. It is only a day's trip from Palma which can be taken with luxury on the Edwardian train. It starts in the morning and reaches the destination well in time for the tourists to reach their hotel rooms, relax and prepare them for a fun filled evening. Don't forget to take a stroll along the streets of the town the next morning to come across fantastic bakery products, handicraft items (includes ironwork and earthenware).
With so many tourists flocking around, there are bound to be times when people might feel crowded and long for some peace. In these times, the best area to explore would be the eastern side of the island. This region contains some fancy restaurants offering delicious items on the menu. Great place to relax and take a rest before going back to the main heartland again to continue enjoying the trip. Keep in mind that there is a lot to see and explore than imaginable. Try and not complicate the itinerary but at the same time, do not do the mistake of leaving the trip incomplete.
